Day 1 - Renovation : Back Extension
BacToday's the first day of renovation. Started with the construction of the back extension. When I reached there at about 11am, they've already cleared the wild grass at the back of the house and also knocked off some of the cement floor.
A lorry came to unload all the materials for the construction of the extended wet kitchen at the back.

At the same time, another person was working on the right side of the wall.

At the end of the day, the right wall was about 35% complete.
The main contractor busy with all the arrangements... :p
Materials for the back walls - Sand and some white chalk Mix Cement + sand for the wall concrete foundation. Mix cement + sand + white chalk for the bricks laying.
Clay Bricks.. These are better than sand bricks..
Constructing the foundation of the wall. They put a metal beam at the base of it.
Put some plank of wood at the side to support as they pour cement into it
Laid bricks on top of the concrete foundation
At the end of the day, the left side of the wall was about 65% complete.
At the same time, another person was working on the right side of the wall.
At the end of the day, the right wall was about 35% complete.

Renovation start
24th of November.... The DAY that our house renovation will start. :) I'm pretty excited about it.
We've already applied for a permit from the local council which is MPSJ for the house extension. We've paid RM675 for the permit whereby the break down is as below :-
RM50 - Buy the standard plan
RM500 - Deposit which you can get it back when your house renovation is completed
RM125 - Processing fee
I read in some forum that the local council does not issue any standard plan anymore starting from the 1st Nov. A drawing from the architect is required for any renovation work. If that is true, then I guess I'm pretty lucky. :)

Next step - Renovation works
We've been busy sourcing for renovation contractors for the house. It's been 2 months + now and we've received a couple of quotations from different sources to make comparison. I think it's time to proceed with the next step... -> To start on renovation works.

What we'll be doing :-
a) Kitchen Extension. We'll be extending the back of the house which is currently a small piece of land into a wet kitchen area & a laundry area.
b) Knocking off the existing wall which separates the dry kitchen & the wet kitchen now. This will make our dry kitchen bigger.
c) Extending the gate area to make the entrance wider. Therefore, we'll have to knock down the existing post box and build a new one on the left.
d) Tile up the grass area. Don't want to weed the grass every week. :)
e) Re-tile the whole living area, dining area and kitchen. This is another major job. The existing tiles given by the developer isn't the one that we like.. So we had no choice but to change it...
