Refrigerator, Oven & Microwave

I dont have any preference for refrigerators but it was Paul who insisted to have a big fridge. I wonder why he wants a big fridge so much... to store his drinks??
For microwave, we just bought one which was cheap, with reasonable function (grilling) and white in colour to suit our kitchen.
As for oven, it's sponsored by my mum. Thanks mum! :D

There goes the fridge.

Washing Machine

When buying a washing machine, one will consider whether to go for a front load or a top load. If you look at all the top load washing machine range, there's plenty of brands and design for you to choose from. As for front load washing machines, the design is pretty conventional and the brands are pretty limited too.
I've always wanted to get a front load instead of a top load. I've been surveying quite a number of washing machines... and the choices are pretty limited due to my criterias.... the capacity should be 7kg or more and preferably the price below 2k.
After surveying for weeks, I've ended up getting the below. :)

Wood frame & glass installation

There is only a half wall between the dry kitchen and the wet kitchen. We have 2 options ; either to build a full height wall or to leave it empty and install a glass as a separator. We chose the latter.

Before any work done :- 1st step : Installation of the wood frame. This is done by the contractor.2nd step : Installation of the glass. 3rd step : DIY painting job.
FINALLY When it's 90% DONE.......................

What is the other 10% pending is something to do with the glass. We have not really decided what to do with it yet to make it look better. :)

Day 23 to 27 - Painting job

My house renovation is more or less complete except the area between the wet kitchen and the dry kitchen. The pending task is to build a wood frame and install the glass & the sliding door. This job can wait.
So the next activity for my house is painting . I am going to get some contract workers to help me with painting.

Paints cost a bomb. I'm using ICI Dulux for all my internal area and Nippon for all my external area. 1 pail cost more than RM100. Look how many pails I've used.. *Heartache*

Day 22 - Mosaic tiles for my dry kitchen

First, they spread some white cement (It's called white cement gam)

Then, you spread the white cement onto the sheet of the mosaic tiles and stick it on the wall.

Work in progress

All done! :) Looks pretty odd now but I'm sure it will look good when the cabinets are up. Can't wait to see the result.. :D

Day 21 - Installation of front gate

Because of the extension of the front entrance, by right I will have to change to a new gate. To save some $$, I used back the existing gate and just extended it to be longer. :)

Day 18 - 20 : Tiling works (Living hall)

The last major work : Tiling.

Cutting the tiles to the correct size for the sides

All done. Finally! This took them 3 days to complete the whole area.

Day 17 - Installing plaster ceiling

My back kitchen is done. So the last piece of work that the contractor needs to do is to tile my living hall. That can only be done if my plaster ceiling is up.

So, we've arranged for the plaster ceiling to be completed first.

Plastering my porch area.

Touching up on the plaster ceiling in the rooms

The most expensive area --> Dining area. These boxes cost a bomb even though there are only 6 of them. When lights are installed I'm sure it will look really comforting due to the concealed lighting.

Day 16 - Tiling Kitchen Slab

I thought the tiling of the kitchen slab was easy but it was not. This took them 1 whole day to complete.

I've also installed the back metal door.

This is exciting. Tiling work for my wet kitchen.

Laying the wall tiles

All done now :D I like my wet kitchen.

Have added in the sink too.

Day 13 - Renovation continues @ Front porch

Tiling the front porch area. This area was not tiled earlier as it meant for you to do some gardening. I'm giving gardening up. No one wants to do the weeding...

All done! Nice!

My new pillar is done too. :)

Day 12 - Kitchen Slab @ Wet kitchen

At first, they just put up some sort of wood planks for the shape of the slab

Then, they put the cement slab up.

Day 11 - Back extension & Front gate

My back extension's floor is completed today. Will have to wait till it's dry to proceed with the next step which is tiling. Can't wait for my tiles to be up.

They are starting to build the new gate pillar.

Day 10 : Renovation continues

They've removed my front pillar entirely.

I have a slab built just in front of the new pillar which will be ready real soon.

Updates to what's happening inside the house. They've completed with the removal of the hall tiles.
